Sanitary ware, housewares & décor

Import of home lines, housewares, décor, and sanitary products.

We work with importers of housewares, décor, home articles, faucets, and sanitary fixtures. We handle shipments spanning a wide variety of tariff positions, with the right classification and duty framing for each type of goods.

The one point where this category does carry a specific sanitary intervention is tableware, utensils, and packaging that come into direct contact with food: Art. 185 of the Código Alimentario Argentino requires them to be built or lined with materials resistant to the product they're meant to hold, that don't release harmful substances or other contaminants, and Disposición ANMAT 537/2025 unified the process to authorize them. Under Decreto 697/2026, evaluating and overseeing packaging and materials in contact with food moved to SENASA. The operational handover is still underway: as of today the official process is still published under INAL, following the procedure in Disp. ANMAT 537/2025. We confirm the current window before starting the filing. The rest of the housewares and décor line generally doesn't carry a specific sanitary intervention: there, the point of attention is correct tariff classification, given the range of materials within a single heading.

  • Housewares, décor, and home articles
  • Faucets and sanitary fixtures
  • Tableware, utensils, and packaging in contact with food (Art. 185 CAA)
  • Authorization of food-contact packaging: handover from INAL to SENASA underway
  • Tariff classification of varied shipments
  • Optimized duty framing

Regulations and agencies involved

Art. 185, Código Alimentario Argentino — materials in contact with food

"All utensils, containers, packaging, wrapping, apparatus, piping, and fittings that come into contact with food must at all times be in good hygienic condition, must be built or lined with materials resistant to the product they're meant to hold, and must not release harmful substances or other contaminants..." (Art. 186 specifies the permitted materials and limits).

Authorization of food-contact packaging — handover from ANMAT to SENASA (Decreto 697/2026)

Disposición ANMAT 537/2025 unified the process for this authorization. Decreto 697/2026 assigned SENASA the task of evaluating and overseeing packaging and materials in contact with food, but the operational handover is still underway: as of today, the official published process still points to INAL, following the procedure in Disp. 537/2025. We confirm the current window before starting any filing.
